Part 11 of my weekly series, “Reef Life of the Andaman”.
This episode features pufferfishes, boxfishes and porcupinefishes, 3 families of fish in the order Tetraodontiformes found in abundance in the Andaman Sea.
The juvenile yellow boxfish is on of the cutest fish found in the area, while the whitespotted boxfish has an amazing, abstract coloration.
We get a rare glimpse at a porcupinefish in its inflated state. I have no idea why it was inflated. It was like that when I found it! I wonder if perhaps it was doing that to make it easier for the cleaner wrasse to clean it.
Next Tuesday: Filefishes & triggerfishes
